Inverse Square Law Verification Lab

Interactive Inverse Square Law Interactive

Student & Instructions

Step 1: Distance Measurement Click and drag the optical lamp along the rail track. Align the white index marker line at the base of the carriage plate with the graduated ruler to record the source distance (r) in meters from the wall.
Step 2: Aperture Profiling Observe the projection wall view. Reposition the horizontal caliper ruler. Read the radius values off the ruler where the edges of the light circle cross it to calculate total beam diameter (d).
Step 3: Verification Analysis Log the live intensity percentage (I) displayed inside the top corner of the wall view window. Plot Intensity versus Distance (r), then linearise the data to verify the inverse-square law.
Experimental Viewports (Side Profile Track / Front Target Wall View)
Directly drag the Light Source Mount or the Wall Caliper Ruler to alter alignments and log experimental physics markers
